Homers by Reggie Smith and Darrell Evans powered the Giants to a 4-2 triumph over the Reds. Smith hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning and Evans cracked a solo blast in the sixth. Rookie Alan Fowlkes, getting relief help from Greg Minton, received credit for his second straight major league victory. Two Reds runners were thrown out at home and three were caught stealing.
