Rookie David Green was the hero as the Cardinals came from behind to score their eighth straight victory, edging the Phillies, 6-5 in 11 innings. The Redbirds trailed, 5-3, going into the bottom of the ninth, but tied the game on RBI singles by George Hendrick and Green.

In the bottom of the 11th, Keith Hernandez drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on a sacrifice by Orlando Sanchez. After Hendrick was walked intentionally, Green lined an 0-1 serve over the second baseman's head for the winning run. [The Sporting News]
