A single by Dan Meyer drove home the winning run in the bottom of the 16th inning as the A's outlasted the Twins, 4-3 in a five-hour, three-minute marathon. The score was 3-3 when Davey Lopes led off the A's 16th with a double. Mike Heath was intentionally walked and Fred Stanley walked on four pitches to load the bases.

After Rickey Henderson popped out and Dwayne Murphy struck out, Meyer lined a single to right to end the game. The Twins had deadlocked the contest in the ninth on a bases-loaded walk. [The Sporting News]
