Jerry Reuss fired a one-hitter as the Dodgers whitewashed the Astros, 6-0. The lone safety given up by the veteran southpaw was a double by Art Howe with two out in the first inning. The Dodgers tallied three runs in their first turn at bat on an RBI single by Rick Monday, RBI groundout by Ron Cey and run-scoring single by Steve Garvey. Pedro Guerrero belted a solo homer in the third and the Dodgers kayoed Nolan Ryan, now 0-4, in the seventh as Reuss singled, Steve Sax tripled and Monday delivered Sax with a single.
