Homers by Joe Rudi and Jeff Newman keyed a five-run fourth inning that lifted the A's to a 5-2 decision over the Twins as Tom Underwood went the route, scattering eight hits. The score was 0-0 in the fourth when Tony Armas doubled, Mickey Klutts walked and Rudi followed with a three-run circuit clout. After Dave McKay singled, Newman homered to cap the surge.
