Sixto Lezcano's second homer of the game, a three-run blast in the top of the 12th inning, enabled the Padres to extend their winning streak to nine games by defeating the Braves, 6-3. The score was 3-3 when Gene Richards opened the 12th with a double.

Two outs later, Ruppert Jones was intentionally walked by Atlanta relief ace Rick Camp, but Lezcano spoiled the strategy by drilling the ball over the fence. The contest was deadlocked, 2-2, after nine innings. The Padres went ahead, 3-2, in the top of the 11th on a run-scoring single by Kurt Bevacqua, but Atlanta tied it in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single by Glenn Hubbard. [The Sporting News]
