Scoring two runs in the ninth inning, the Dodgers edged the Giants, 7-6. Los Angeles was behind, 6-5, when pinch-hitter Ron Roenicke opened the ninth with a walk and went to third on a pinch-single by Jorge Orta, who reached second on a sacrifice by Steve Sax. After an intentional walk to Ken Landreaux loaded the bases, Pedro Guerrero grounded out to tie the score and Rick Monday followed with a single off the glove of second baseman Joe Morgan. The Dodgers had rolled to a 5-0 lead as Guerrero had an RBI double in the first inning and three-run homer in the third, but the Giants scored six runs in the seventh inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Jeff Leonard and two errors by Dodgers' shortstop Bill Russell.
