Rookie righthander Eric Show allowed only two hits in five innings of relief as the Padres extended their winning streak to 11 games with an 8-5 triumph over the Mets. Show took over at the start of the fifth inning and shut out New York the rest of the way.

The Padres went ahead, 6-5, in the bottom of the fourth inning after Luis Salazar reached second base safely when Bob Bailor dropped his fly ball.
