A single by Jim Gantner drove home the winning run in the seventh inning and Rollie Fingers pitched airtight relief as the Brewers edged the White Sox, 2-1. With the score 1-1, Gorman Thomas led off the bottom of the seventh with a walk, took second on a sacrifice and scored on a two-out single by Gantner.
