A six-run rally in the ninth inning lifted the Phillies to a 9-3 victory over the Dodgers. The outburst was highlighted by three doubles and Pete Rose's fifth straight hit, tying him with Max Carey for the N.L. record of nine five-hit games.

Bob Dernier doubled in the first run, Ivan DeJesus singled in two more, Bo Diaz contributed an RBI single and Julio Franco doubled in the final two tallies. The Dodgers had a 3-0 lead going into the eighth but the Phils tied the game on an RBI double by Rose, sacrifice fly by Diaz and run-scoring pinch-single by Dick Davis. [The Sporting News]
