A six-run rally in the ninth inning lifted the Phillies to a 9-3 victory over the Dodgers. The outburst was highlighted by three doubles and Pete Rose's fifth straight hit, tying him with Max Carey for the N.L. record of nine five-hit games.

Bob Dernier doubled in the first run, Ivan DeJesus singled in two more, Bo Diaz contributed an RBI single and Julio Franco doubled in the final two tallies.
