Pittsburgh shortstop Dale Berra booted pinch-hitter Bob Watson's soft grounder with two out in the 10th inning, allowing the winning run to score from third base and enabling the Braves to snap their five-game losing streak with a 7-6 triumph over the Pirates. With two out and the game tied, 6-6, in the bottom of the 10th, Bob Horner walked and went to third on a double by Chris Chambliss.

Watson then hit the grounder that Berra misplayed, allowing Watson to reach first without a throw as Horner scored. The Bucs had deadlocked the contest in the top of the ninth on an RBI by Dave Parker. The Braves had battled back from an early 5-0 deficit with a two-run homer by Dale Murphy and a solo blast by Horner being the big blows. [The Sporting News]
