Lamarr Hoyt became the majors' first five-game winner by pitching the White Sox to a 10-3 victory over the Tigers. Tom Paciorek singled home two runs in the first inning and the Sox boosted their lead to 3-0 in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Harold Baines. Chicago put the game on ice with a four-run fifth.
