A two-run single by Hubie Brooks was the key blow as the Mets defeated the Dodgers, 6-3 in 12 innings. The game was tied, 3-3, when George Foster led off the 12th with a single and was sacrificed to second by Dave Kingman.

Joel Youngblood singled and John Stearns was hit by a pitch, loading the bases. Steve Howe replaced Terry Forster on the hill for Los Angeles and was greeted by Brooks' two-run single. The third run of the inning came on a groundout by Ron Gardenhire. [The Sporting News]
