. . . where the 1970s live forever!

A four-run rally in the eighth inning carried the A's to a 5-2 triumph over the Yankees. With Oakland trailing, 2-1, Jeff Burroughs opened the eighth with an infield hit and was replaced by pinch-runner Jimmy Sexton.

After Rickey Henderson walked, Dwayne Murphy, who had tripled in a run in the third, stroked a single to score Sexton and bring on Rich Gossage in relief of Tommy John. Tony Armas singled to score Henderson, and Murphy came home on a sacrifice fly by Cliff Johnson. Armas reached third on a wild pitch and tallied on Joe Rudi's squeeze bunt. [The Sporting News]
