Tom Seaver won his first game of the season and 260th of his career as the Reds captured a 5-2 decision over the Astros. The Reds scored twice in their first turn at bat on a two-run single by Cesar Cedeno, added a run in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Dan Driessen and another in the seventh on successive singles by Dave Concepcion, Cedeno and Johnny Bench.
