A single by Dusty Baker with the bases loaded in the ninth inning enabled the Dodgers to shade the Mets, 2-1. The game was tied, 1-1, when Los Angeles filled the sacks in the bottom of the ninth on a single by Fernando Valenzuela, two-base throwing error by New York pitcher Neil Allen on a sacrifice bunt by Steve Sax and an intentional walk to Steve Garvey.
