Driving in three runs with two homers and a single, Jim Morrison paced the White Sox to an 8-5 verdict over the Tigers. Morrison singled in a second-inning run, cracked a leadoff homer in the fifth and added a solo swat in the sixth.

The Sox tallied three times in the ninth on a two-out RBI single by Mike Squires followed by a two-run triple by Harold Baines. Chico Escarrega, the fifth Sox pitcher, got the last two outs to record his first save. [The Sporting News]
