A homer by Biff Pocoroba broke a 1-1 tie with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving the Braves a 2-1 victory over the Cardinals. The Redbirds had deadlocked the contest in the top of the frame on a sacrifice fly by Keith Hernandez. The Braves' earlier run came on a solo homer by Rafael Ramirez in the seventh.
