The Braves failed to hold a lead in the ninth inning for the second straight night as the Cardinals scored once in the ninth and four times in the 10th to overcome Atlanta, 7-6. Keith Hernandez provided a run-scoring double for the equalizer off Gene Garber in the ninth.

Garber made an errant throw to third base on a bunt to provide the Cards with the go-ahead run in the 10th and Lonnie Smith capped the rally with a three-run homer. Chris Chambliss stroked a three-run pinch-homer off Bruce Sutter in the bottom of the inning. [The Sporting News]
