In a see-saw game, the White Sox finally prevailed over the Rangers, 6-5, with the winning run scoring on an error. Greg Luzinski singled with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning and was replaced by pinch-runner Jerry Hairston, who went to second on a single by Tom Paciorek.

Marv Foley then hit a grounder up the middle for an infield single. Second baseman Doug Flynn tried to make a backhanded flip to shortstop Mario Mendoza and the ball rolled to the infield grass as Hairston raced home. [The Sporting News]
