Overcoming a 5-0 deficit, the Braves edged the Phillies, 7-6, as the winning run came in on an error by Phils third baseman Mike Schmidt. The Braves trailed, 6-5, when Claudell Washington singled to open the bottom of the seventh inning, moved to second on a sacrifice and scored on a single by Chris Chambliss. A single by Dale Murphy and two-out walk to Ken Smith loaded the bases. Bruce Benedict then hit a routine grounder to third that Schmidt mishandled. [The Sporting News]
