Dennis Leonard and Dan Quisenberry combined on a four-hitter to give the Royals a 3-0 victory over the Rangers. Leonard allowed only two hits before being forced to leave the game in the seventh inning after being struck on his pitching hand by a line drive off the bat of Buddy Bell. X-rays revealed two broken fingers, and Leonard was expected to be out six to eight weeks. The Royals scored in the first frame on a double by Amos Otis and in the second on a single by Willie Wilson. Otis delivered a sacrifice fly in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
