Jack Morris, allowing only one hit before leaving the game with a stiff shoulder after seven innings, was the winning pitcher as the Tigers triumphed over the Angels, 5-1. Detroit scored in the second stanza on a leadoff double by Larry Herndon, single by Lance Parrish and run-scoring groundout by Tom Brookens, and kayoed Angels starter Angel Moreno in the fourth as Parrish tripled home two runs.
