The Giants swept a doubleheader from the Cubs, winning the opener, 4-3 in 10 innings, and capturing the nightcap, 6-3. The curtain-raiser was tied at 3-3 when Chili Davis and Dave Bergman opened the bottom of the 10th with singles. Both runners advanced on a sacrifice and Jack Clark ended the game with a single.

Johnnie LeMaster drove in two runs with a triple in the second inning of the nightcap. He then singled in the sixth, stole second and scored on a single by Duane Kuiper. [The Sporting News]
