. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Pushing across a run in the ninth inning, the Mariners edged the Tigers, 7-6. With the game tied, 6-6, Todd Cruz opened the bottom of the ninth with a single and Jim Maler reached first on an error by third baseman Mark DeJohn. Paul Serna attempted to sacrifice but forced Cruz at third.

Julio Cruz hit into a forceout as Joe Simpson, pinch-running for Maler, reached third. Dave Henderson then followed with the game-winning single. The Mariners had tied the score in the bottom of the eighth on a two-run single by Rick Sweet and Al Cowens' RBI single. [The Sporting News]
