. . . where the 1970s live forever!

A three-run double by Bill Russell capped a four-run sixth inning that carried the Dodgers to a 6-2 triumph over the Cardinals and made Fernando Valenzuela the N.L.'s first eight-game winner. The game was deadlocked, 2-2, before the Dodgers went ahead, 3-2, in the sixth on consecutive singles by Steve Garvey, Dusty Baker and Pedro Guerrero. After two outs, Mike Scioscia was walked intentionally to load the bases before Russell cleared the sacks with his two-bagger. [The Sporting News]
