Willie Aikens went 5-for-6 and drove in four runs as the Royals battered the Yankees, 14-1. Aikens, who tied a club record with three doubles, was supported in the 22-hit assault by George Brett with four hits and John Wathan and Hal McRae with three RBIs each. K.C. scored four runs in the third inning on a three-run triple by McRae and run-scoring double by Aikens, and broke the game apart with eight runs in the sixth inning as 13 men went to the plate.
