Robin Yount hit two homers and a triple to lead the Brewers to a 10-2 triumph over the Orioles for the A.L. East championship. Yount drilled solo shots in the first and third innings. Cecil Cooper smacked a leadoff round-tripper in the sixth and Ted Simmons climaxed a five-run outburst in the ninth with a two-run circuit clout.

Yount led off the eighth with a triple and scored on a single by Ben Oglivie. Don Sutton went the first eight innings to get the victory. The game was Earl Weaver's last as the Baltimore manager [The Sporting News]
