Don Baylor tied a Championship Series record by driving in five runs, leading the Angels to an 8-3 triumph over the Brewers in the opening game of the A.L. pennant playoffs. Baylor produced California's first run by lofting a sacrifice fly in the first inning. After Milwaukee had taken a 3-1 lead on a two-run homer by Gorman Thomas in the second and a run-scoring grounder by Cecil Cooper in the third, Baylor keyed a four-run outburst in the bottom of the third with a two-run triple.
