Steve Tensi's successful pass to Billy Van Heusen provided the winning margin and a field goal miss by Gene Mingo from 27 yards with 1:52 left prevented the Steelers from tying. A pass from punt formation by Bobby Walden set up the Steeler's only TD, a 4-yard run by Dick Hoak.
