Packer rookie Larry Krause returned the opening kickoff 100 yards for a TD to help push Pittsburgh out of a first-place tie in the Central Division of the AFC. Pittsburgh enjoyed a temporary lead when Terry Bradshaw connected with an 87-yard TD pass to Dave Smith but Bart Starr directed the Packers 67 yards in seven plays to put the Packers in front for good. Green Bay registered five interceptions, four against Terry Bradshaw, Pittsburgh's rookie quarterback.
