NFL game summary for 11/14/1971:
Following eight field goals -- five of which put Washington into a 15-9 lead -- Cyril Pinder dashed 40 yards for the game's only touchdown four minutes into the final period. On the extra point attempt, the ball was snapped over the head of quarterback-holder Bobby Douglass, who retrieved it at the 30-yard line and threw a successful conversion pass to linebacker Dick Butkus, who was an eligible receiver because he was lined up as a blocker in the backfield. Washington's Curt Knight missed a 45-yard field goal attempt in the final seconds.
