The Redskins snapped a 10-10 second-period tie as Billy Kilmer threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Clifton McNeil following Ted Vactor's block of a Los Angeles field goal attempt, and went on to build a 31-10 lead that the Rams were unable to overcome. Kilmer also threw a pair of TD passes to Roy Jefferson. The victory assured Washington of a position in the NFC's divisional playoffs. The game marked George Allen's return to Los Angeles, where he coached for five seasons before taking over in Washington.
