In snapping NFL champion Dallas' winning streak at 12, Green Bay's defense continued to provide opportunities for the offense, intercepting three passes (two by Al Matthews) and recovering two fumbles. Just before halftime, the Packers held the Cowboys for three downs on the 1-yard line, forcing Dallas to settle for a field goal. Rookie kicker Chester Marcol's three field goals for Green Bay proved the difference.
