. . . where the 1970s live forever!

NFL game summary for 10/01/1972:

The Patriots achieved a victory over an NFC rival for the second successive week by a one-point margin. Washington kicked the tying 32-yard FG in the last two minutes but decided to take the penalty when the Patriots ran into the kicker, Curt Knight. Three attempts picked up only one yard and this time Knight was wide from the 27. Washington subsequently picked up two points on a safety when Patriots' Pat Studstill's punt was blocked through the end zone. Washington's final gasp was a 50-yard attempt by Knight following Speedy Duncan's 19-yard return of New England's free kick. Rookie RB Josh Ashton scored twice for New England and had 108 yards on 23 carries.
