A last-minute pass play from Joe Namath to Eddie Bell covered 83 yards and provided the winning margin which spoiled John Sandusky's debut as Baltimore head coach and Marty Domres' as Colts starting QB. Prior to this winning play Baltimore had gone ahead on a Domres pass to Jim O'Brien who had to double as a wide receiver and kicker because of injuries. The winning pass was tipped into Bell's hands by Charlie Stukes attempting an interception. On the last play of the game TE John Mosier caught a Domres pass from the Colts' 45 to the Jets' 2.
