The New York Jets were eliminated from AFC playoff contention as a possible No. 4 qualifier but Don Maynard, who caught seven of Joe Namath's passes for 131 yards, displaced ex-Colts' receiver Raymond Berry as the all-time NFL reception leader. Maynard topped the previous mark of 631 catches by one. Namath completed 25 of 46 attempts for 403 yards and went over the 400-yard mark for the second time this season, moving into a tie in this category with Sonny Jurgensen of Philadelphia and George Blanda of Houston, who both accomplished the feat in 1961. Marv Hubbard carried 28 times for 118 yards for a new personal high.
