Dick Shiner threw three TD passes, two to Ken Burrow, and the Falcons rolled up a club record total of 496 yards and a club record high in points. Shiner, picked up from Giants and a taxi squader in Atlanta most of 1972, completed 13 of 15 for 227 yards. Dave Hampton, who just missed 1,000 yards in '72 with 995, picked up 104 on 19 carries. The Falcons made six interceptions, including two by Tom Hayes, who ran one 65 yards for a TD. Atlanta's John James got off a 72-yard punt, which proved to be the longest in the NFC in 1973.
