Jim Hart broke through Washington's pass defense by completing 17 of 30 for 286 yards and one TD in a game marked by back-to-back 97-yard TD kickoff returns. Donny Anderson scored three times for the Cardinals, running his total to 6 TDs in two weeks. With St. Louis leading 24-17 in the last quarter, Don Shy returned a kickoff 97 yards for a Cardinals' score only to have Herb Mul-Key return the following kickoff 97 yards for the Redskins. The two 97-yard kickoffs were the longest in the NFC in 1973 and were only the second time in NFL history that consecutive kickoffs were returned for TDs.
