Ex-Charger John Hadl and ex-Eagle Harold Jackson teamed up with four TD passes in the first half but the Rams had to stave off a second-half Dallas rally to secure their fifth win in a row. Roger Staubach, sacked three times in the first half, threw two TD passes to Otto Stowe before Al Clark's interception ended the Cowboys final drive with 2:42 to play. Jackson caught seven for 238 yards, a Los Angeles Rams' record, although Jim Benton gained 303 yards with passes in 1945 when the Rams played in Cleveland.

New Orleans made it two in a row for the first time since 1969 when Bill Butler scored from the 1-yard line with 39 seconds to play. The winning TD came after Happy Feller apparently had booted his third FG, but the Lions were penalized for roughing the kicker. The Saints took the first down at the 2 and Butler went over on his second plunge. Butler ran for 91 yards and Jess Phillips for 72.

Paul Krause kept Minnesota among the ranks of the unbeaten by intercepting two Steve Spurrier passes in the final quarter. Trailing 14-13 in the fourth quarter, the 49ers had driven from their 7-yard line to the Vikings' 13 when Carl Eller tipped a Spurrier pass and Krause intercepted. The 49ers were pressing again on the 42 before Krause again intercepted and set up the final FG by Fred Cox. Spurrier completed 31 of 48 for 320 yards.

Rookie Don Zimmerman, filling in for injured Ben Hawkins, caught a Roman Gabriel pass on the 2-yard line and fought his way into the end zone for the winning TD with no time left on the clock. Harold Carmichael had caught his second TD pass just a few moments earlier as the Eagles rallied from a 24-13 deficit. Jim Hart hit Ahmad Rashad with two TD passes for the Cardinals who gambled and lost on a fourth-down situation in the last minute, giving up the ball for the Eagles' winning march. Carmichael had 12 receptions and moved into the lead among NFC receivers.
