Despite injuries to QB Terry Bradshaw and RB John Fuqua, Pittsburgh evened the season score with Cincinnati by beating the Bengals 20-13. Bradshaw suffered a shoulder separation in the second quarter and was replaced by Terry Hanratty whose 51-yard pass to Ron Shanklin put the Steelers ahead to stay. Fuqua suffered a shoulder injury. Steelers' safety Mike Wagner stole three passes and moved into first place among AFC interception leaders.
