Sonny Jurgensen, taking over after Billy Kilmer aggravated a sprained ankle, completed 11 straight passes in two crucial touchdown drives in the last eight minutes. The Giants opened up a 21-3 lead in the second period on the running of Ron Johnson (90 yards in 26 carries) and the passing of Randy Johnson. Larry Brown ripped through the Giants' defense for three touchdowns, two on the ground and the last on a 16-yard pass from Jurgensen. The victory kept the Redskins one game in front of Dallas in the NFC East.
