O.J. Simpson smashed Jim Brown's rushing record, set in 1963, and became the first to reach 2,000 yards with 200 yards on 34 carries for a season total of 2,003 yards. Simpson's 332 carries also topped Brown's 305 in 1961 and Buffalo broke Miami's club rushing mark with 3,088 yards, including 304 in this game versus the Jets in the snow. Jim Braxton gained 98 yards for the Bills and scored twice. The only New York scores in retiring coach Weeb Ewbank's last game came on two Joe Namath passes.
