Joe Gilliam, starting at QB after leading the Steelers to the only perfect preseason record in the NFL, 6-0, threw TD passes to rookie Lynn Swann and Frank Lewis while completing 17 of 31 for 257 yards. It was the first shutout for the Steelers since Dec. 3, 1972 and their 15th victory in 16 regular season starts at home. The Steelers' defense sacked Colts QBs Marty Domres and Bert Jones six times.
