. . . where the 1970s live forever!

NFL game summary for 09/15/1974:

Marvin Upshaw and Emmitt Thomas ran for TDs after intercepting Joe Namath passes in the Chiefs' first opening day victory since 1969. Namath's passes to Rich Caster and Eddie Bell gave the Jets an early lead, but Upshaw's steal of a screen pass out of the hands of John Riggins enabled the Chiefs to go off at halftime trailing only 16-14. Jan Stenerud's 27-yard FG and Thomas' interception nullified the work of Namath who completed 14 of 30 for 210 yards and two TDs. Riggins was the top rusher with 116 yards on 22 carries.
