Moments later Terry Metcalf dashed 75 yards for the longest run from scrimmage of the season in the NFC. Jim Tolbert intercepted a fourth-down Kilmer pass in the final minute to thwart a late threat by Washington, which was playing without Larry Brown. Duane Thomas rushed for 96 yards as Brown's replacement.
