Mike Livingston took over for the injured Len Dawson and led the Chiefs to victory after a sluggish first half. Livingston completed 20 of 26 for 167 yards, throwing 10 to running back Ed Podolak. Turnovers hurt the Oilers, who lost the ball twice on interceptions and twice on fumbles. The Chiefs' Emmitt Thomas took over sole possession of the AFC lead in interceptions with four as he picked off two Lynn Dickey passes, one of them in the end zone in the last period when the Chiefs trailed in the game 7-3.
