Jim Bakken kicked a 31-yard field goal with 62 seconds remaining to provide the Cardinals with their fifth straight victory. Terry Metcalf's 56-yard kickoff return to the Dallas 34 set up the winning field goal and he moved into the NFC lead in both punt and kickoff returns. Dallas rookie Dennis Morgan tied the NFL record for the longest punt return when he ran 98 yards for a touchdown to open the game's scoring. The game also featured the longest pass play of the season in the NFC, an 81-yarder from Gary Hammond to Jackie Smith, setting up a Cardinals' score.
