Steve Ramsey, the former New Orleans quarterback, made his first start in two years and threw two scoring passes for Denver. Ramsey replaced the ailing Charley Johnson and completed 17 of 27 for 295 yards with TD strikes to Riley Odoms and Billy Van Heusen. Otis Armstrong burst through the Saints' defense for two scores and gained 57 yards. The Broncos' 397-yard offense was their best in the first five games.
