. . . where the 1970s live forever!

WFL game summary for 10/24/1974:

The Portland Storm, led by the passing of Pete Beathard and the running of Rufus Ferguson, upset Memphis, 26-25, ending the Southmen's 11-game winning streak and preventing them from clinching the WFL's Central Division. The win also kept the Storm's own playoff hopes alive. Portland appeared to have the game easily wrapped up when it scored a touchdown with two minutes left in the game to take a 26-17 lead. But Memphis, with Danny White passing effectively, came back to score a TD with 43 seconds left, then made the action point, reducing the Storm's lead to one point. The Southmen recovered the ensuing short kickoff and tried a 38-yard field goal on the last play of the game, but the boot sailed wide.
